meet our children

Pamoja Mission Africa engages in a series of activities to accomplish its goals and its vision. Because of the holistic approach most of these activities are tailor-made. For every child we make a development plan based on its needs and dreams. As the horizon changes every step we take towards the future, we regularly need to follow-up on both. Examples of activities are:

- Feeding program to make sure that all the children in the program have at least two meals in a day we do all we can to provide those who cannot provide for themselves. This is necessary for proper growth and development. You cannot learn or grow with an empty stomach.

- Counseling and coaching to help children to cope with emotional problems. Some of these problems are the everyday problems that children of different ages face. Others are specific to their situation of extreme vulnerability (bullying, low self-esteem, missing their parents, etc.).

- Sponsoring school fees and school materials. All of our children want to go to school. However, often they are rejected because they simply cannot pay for the fees. Often they are simply set back because they just don't have materials like a pen or a book to take notes.

- Strengthening the socio-economic environment of the child. The most important source of influence for every child is its family. However, sometimes parents are addicted to kumi kumi or sometimes they simply don't see options to provide for their children. It is a highly effective way to support children through training their parents. We bring parents together in parent groups and help them to support each other. Also we train them both in entrepreneurial and educational skills.

- Legal support and rescue. Sometimes children are victim of abuse within the family or beyond. In those cases we always choose the side of the child. Most of the time we try to mediate or to create a temporary safe ground (e.g. boarding school). If necessary, we go court in order to make sure that the child is safe.

- Motivation events. One of the things we try to do on a trimestrial basis is the organization of Pamoja days. On these days we have fun. We create a dynamic situation in which children feel empowered to dream and to believe in themselves. Often, we also provide necessary school gear for the next three months (uniforms, pens, books, shoes, sanitary towels, etc.). The last Pamoja Mission Africa event was on the 10th of august 2014. In the video below we thank all the people who helped us to make this day another succes.
